Juana Martin FW23/24 during Paris Couture Week

Spanish fashion designer Juana Martin presented her FW23-24 collection on Thursday July 06 at 12PM. Her inspiration comes from the post-Spanish Civil War and the dark atmosphere that surrounded it. Through this collection, Juana Martin transcends an emotional journey from a sense of destruction and deep sadness to a gradual emergence of peace and freedom.

Each dress has been carefully crafted to tell this story. Symbols embellish the looks, such as the bull, representing the strength of the Spanish people, the eyes, in reference to government surveillance, and the hands encircling the dress, representing a form of oppression. This collection places great importance on cubist and abstract art, the same art that was raised as a rebellion against the nationalism of the period. The white, black, gray and silver tones are inspired by the predominant palette of this Spanish artistic movement.

Each look in this FW23-24 collection has a symbolic name, evoking the various social-cultural and artistic movements of this pivotal period in Spanish history: resilience, hope and rebirth.

In it, Juana Martin’s creations are veritable living snapshots, transcending a simple aesthetics to reveal emotional depth.

A giant dove unfurls from the latest look in this collection. It is the universal symbol of peace and freedom. In it, Juana Martin signals her desire for profound tranquility.
