Rock ’N Karma, Toronto chic.

Rock ’N Karma is Toronto based chic street wear founded by creative sister duo Naomi and Devorah.

24FASHION.TV: When did you first realize you wanted to pursue a career as a fashion designer and where do you usually find creative inspiration?

Rock ’N Karma: Naomi has always been a natural fashionista – always doing her own thing; making and creating clothing from a young age. While Devorah has always had a creative eye. We grew up in a family where fashion played a big part of our lifestyle. We are city girls drawn to fashion from a young age and find inspiration from everything around us. However, having been able to travel to different parts of the world throughout our life, has allowed us to widen our fashion inspiration from different cultures.

How is working in fashion different today than from when you started out?

Fashion is a rapidly growing industry, therefore it’s always changing. Naomi as a teenager started street-vending her hand-made garments in the summers, now being at a 3-level Flagship store on Queen West – change is something we embrace here at Rock ’N Karma. We have always chosen the retail sales approach as it connects us with our customers creating a more organic, personable environment. Although, E-comm + Social Media is the most apparent change in the industry today.

What role do you think social media plays in fashion today?

Social Media most definitely plays a massive role in fashion today – showcasing trends, new product releases + promotions are just some tools that we utilize here at Rock ’N Karma. Now with Fashion Week being 90% virtual – Social media platforms + making your digital presence known in the Fashion Industry is more important than ever before.

How was your brand affected by the Covid-19 lockdown?

During lockdown being affected was inevitable – whether it being positive or negative it was a massive economic shift. At RNK we played into other areas to connect with our customers in new ways like our #livinginmyRNK hashtag + interacting with our customers in new and unique ways.

Did you have to adjust your collection and make some changes to it because of Covid-19?

The sisters design their line far in advance – therefore the collection (FW2020) was already designed. As quickly as they could the sisters played on “Social Distance in Style” by taking inspiration from certain at home trends + cozy chic lounge wear.

What do you think about sustainable fashion? Should fashion be more sustainable?

Rock ‘N Karma has been designing using sustainable techniques from the very start. Always fostering new ways to upcycle our old materials, never mass-produced, hand painted fabric + recycled ‘Remix’ denim is what makes us, US + what makes our quality and the garments last a life-time – Also playing off of sustainable fashion.

What is your favorite part about being a designer?

Our favorite part of the process truly is the “process” of building a garment from Ideas to pattern to stitch. Creating + constructing wherever our imagination takes us – to working with our amazing team at or studio and seeing our FAB clients Rock their Karma. Once the garment/collection comes to life – truly is the most rewarding aspect of designing.

How do you want women to feel when wearing your clothes?

We want our Women that Rock to ALWAYS feel on top of the world, but most of all true to themselves. The woman that wears Rock ‘N Karma is confident in her style and herself; as we say, “I wear whatever the f*ck I want to wear.”
