Paolo Iacullo – Italian Charm and Sophistication

Paolo Iacullo is an Italian tailor, ambassador of “Made in Italy” and a founder of exclusive store “Capo Salerno” in Toronto, Canada.

24FASHION.TV: When did you first realize you wanted to pursue a career as a fashion designer?

Paolo Iacullo: Being an Italian and having been born and raised in Italy, I always had a passion for fashion. I started working in the fashion industry from my teen years and was always involved in Italian nightlife working with many celebrities.

Where do you usually find creative inspiration for your new collections?

The boutique requires a lot of traveling, so we attend many fashion shows in Milan. I found that traveling mixed with my own fashion needs and curiosity is where most of my inspiration comes from.

How is working in fashion different today than when you started out?

Fashion and style are always changing, plus people buying patterns/needs are different from one season to the next. While there are many styles and designs, my true self style is the classic Italian, Milano style with a twist of the modern man.

What role do you think social media plays in fashion today?

Social media allows fashion and trends to travel at record speed across the globe but this also means that trends can die much faster than before. I found that by remaining true to your classic self you can never go wrong.

How was your brand affected by the Covid-19 lockdown?

Covid-19 killed in person experience. As many know, Italians are a culture of personable and social personalities so coming into my boutique you feel the true essence of all the finest things Italy can offer. The aroma of the espresso, Italian music, Italian language and the warm greetings, because when you mix these with the Italian clothing/style you are embraced by Moda Italiano.  372 24Fashion TV PaoloIacullo caposalerno Toronto 1611963138 jpg

Did you have to adjust your collection and make some changes to it because of Covid-19?

We had to create a line of what is labelled, Cozy collection. We always had cozy items that are comfortable to wear while not losing the Italian flair, but we had to “re-brand” the way we represent some of our items.

What do you think about sustainable fashion? Should fashion be more sustainable?

Of course. It is important for our planet.

What is your favorite part of being a designer?

Being able to express my creativity and seeing people react positively towards it. When they purchase an item I designed and then tell me about all the compliments they received I am overjoyed.

How do you want women/men to feel when wearing your clothes?

It is important they feel confident, sexy and comfortable. To then receive compliments from others, even total strangers (which happens) is the BEST!

Can you briefly describe your brand?

We offer ready to wear pronto moda. Anything you purchase from us can be custom tailored to fit.

What comes next for your brand?

We are keeping that a secret as it is in the works 😉

However, we just launched a new jeans and dress shirt line which is branded “Capo Salerno”.
