Meruert Tolegen FW 23/24 during Paris Fashion Week
Meruert Tolegen Fall Winter 2023-2024 collection during Paris Fashion Week.
Meruert Tolegen welcomes you into her world, a story of a spirit, free and playful. A universe with cues of a whimsical nature, comes to fruition, however elegant and strong. A play on fabrics and details, a creative synergy brought together with careful stitching and fine lines.
Throughout the Fall | Winter 2023 season Meruert Tolegen carries in a new wave of feelings and emotions, tying them to the nostalgic feeling of time passing. Each piece is created with a depth of emotions experienced through time, conveying a recourse of experience through textures and overlays.
Tolegen works to create a selection of garments in mixed media using techniques to layer materials and combine them together throughout the pattern. She brings in pleating and fabric manipulation, and ties it in throughout the collection, composing a symphony where each garment plays onto the next.
Florals and color appear in the FW23 season in hues of dusty pink and warm nude. They are woven into a tapestry of the mixed media coat, while the colorful hues find themselves as garment details as well as full pieces.
ABOUT MERUERT TOLEGEN
Meruert Tolegen defines the quintessential global creative director bringing her multi-cultural background and American entrepreneurial spirit to design and business. Tolegen was born in Kazakhstan but left when she was five. Her family departed the former Soviet Union Republic to immigrate to the United States, settling in suburban California.
Despite a scientific background, Tolegen was always creative though lacking an outlet. She first applied this creativity to a children's clothing collection, "La Petite Anaïs," which she runs separately from her namesake brand and sells through an e-comm boutique. Still, design yearnings beckoned for more, and she developed the women’s ready-to-wear collection during the Covid-19 confinements. She cultivates a beautiful home with an inviting atmosphere, which further identifies Tolegen's love of design.
As for the 'why now' of Tolegen's clothing launch, the founder and creative director felt it was an urge to fulfill. "My love of quality fabric and careful, thought-out garment construction and the small details it involves compelled me to try this and not regret missing my opportunity. The timing aligned for me to take the leap now."
